The Arc of the United States advocates for the rights and full participation of all children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The Arc is the national organization of and for people with mental retardation and related developmental disabilities and their families. The association also fosters research and education regarding the prevention of mental retardation in infants and young children.
Aspire is a program developed by parents designed to provide people with developmental disabilities quality lifetime supports and opportunities to achieve their individual highest human potential where they live, learn, work or play.

DHS helps Illinois families achieve self-sufficiency, independence and health to the maximum extent possible. Family Resource Center on Disabilities- a coalition of parents and professional organizations-organizes a variety of projects, including a Youth Advocacy Project, Parent-to-Parent Training Project, a variety of seminars, and the Family Support Project, which provides individualized support services for low-income Chicago families. Services include: individualized family service plans, linkage to needed services, support groups and advocacy, and direct financial assistance.

United Cerebral Palsy (UCP) is the leading source of information on cerebral palsy and is a pivotal advocate for the rights of persons with any disability. As one of the largest health charities in America, the UCP mission is to advance the independence, productivity and full citizenship of people with disabilities through an affiliate network.
