Federation of Families for Children’s Mental Health

Provide and sustain leadership for a broad and deep nation-wide network of family-run organizations. We jointly discover and share new models, new technologies, new tools, and new visions that enrich the capacities of our partners, strengthen our network, and allow us to serve with pride in this leadership role.

The National Alliance on Mental Illness

NAMI (the National Alliance on Mental Illness) is the nation’s largest grassroots mental health organization dedicated to improving the lives of persons living with serious mental illness and their families. NAMI is dedicated to the eradication of mental illnesses and to the improvement of the quality of life of all whose lives are affected by these diseases.

Each affiliate is comprised of family members, friends, professionals, and individuals who are recovering from mental illness. With headquarters in the state capital, Springfield, a board of directors is elected to three-year terms by the general membership. The board, which meets 6 times per year, governs NAMI Illinois policy. Board members are family members, consumers and professionals who set policy for the state organization. The staff of NAMI Illinois carries out board policy, with the State Executive Director having primary responsibility.

Illinois Lekotek Centers

Lekotek is a resource center that provides support and information to children with special needs, ages birth through eight and their families. Lekotek’s primary service is the play session, where a trained Lekotek leader focuses on facilitating positive family interaction through play. The play sessions are designed to emphasize family enhancement through the creative use of toys, special play materials and assistive devices. Lekotek is based out of the Easter Seals office in Alton, IL. As a part of Easter Seals, Lekotek families not only benefit from Lekotek's amazing program, but the services Easter Seals has to offer as well.
