A physical or mental impairment that substantially limits one or more of the individual's major life activities, such as caring for one's self, performing manual tasks, walking, seeing, hearing, speaking, breathing, learning, and working.
The term "individual with a disability" means an individual with any disability as defined in Section 3 of the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990.*
"Disability" with respect to an individual refers to an individual with any of the following:
- a physical or mental impairment that substantially limits one or more of the major life activities of such an individual,
- a record of such an impairment, or
- being regarded as having such an impairment.
The term "impairment" does not include characteristics of or predisposition to illness or disease.
