ACTE: Association of Career and Technical Education
The Association for Career and Technical Education is the largest national education association dedicated to the advancement of education that prepares youth and adults for careers. IACTE: Illinois Association for Career and Technical Education
IACTE strives to provide unified, visionary leadership to advance and promote learning in career and technical education Mission: The Illinois Association for Career and Technical Education provides unified, visionary leadership to advance and promote learning in career and technical education. The Illinois Association for Career and Technical Education (IACTE) is the only association in Illinois dedicated to the support of Careeer and Technical Educators. For over 60 years IACTE (formerly IVA) has provided the resources and services that assist in meeting the challenges and needs of Career and Technical educators. IACTE's resources and services are tailored to those who develop, deliver, and administer career and technical education. As we move into the 21st century, we will continue to meet the needs of career and technical educators with the innovation and expertise that our members have come to expect.
IAVAT: Illinois Association of Vocational Agriculture Teachers
IAVAT is an organization of teachers of agricultural occupations in the Illinois Public Schools. As an affiliate of the National Association of Agricultural Educators, IVATE promotes the interests of agriculture education on a national level as well as a state level.
IBEA: Illinois Business Educational Association
The Illinois Commercial Education Association (ICEA) was formed in the mid 1930's at the University of Illinois as an outgrowth of the annual High School Conference. In 1936, the ICEA joined the Illinois Vocational Association (IVA) as an affiliate organization. In 1941, the name of the Illinois Commercial Education Association was changed to the Illinois Business Education Association. IBEA has grown and become a stronger organization year by year. At the fall conference in 2006, IBEA will celebrate 70 years of existence as an organization dedicated business education in the state of Illinois.
IBHE: Illinois Board of Higher Education
The General Assembly and Governor Otto Kerner created the Board of Higher Education in 1961 to plan and coordinate Illinois' system of colleges and universities at a time when enrollments in post-secondary education were taking flight. The goal was to create an agency with the expertise, credibility, and statewide perspective to map an efficient and orderly course for the dramatic growth of higher education then underway.
The Board of Higher Education consists of fifteen members - ten appointed by the Governor, with the advice and consent of the Illinois Senate; one representative each of public universities, and private colleges and universities, also appointed by the Governor but not needing Senate approval; the chairs of the Illinois Student Assistance Commission and the Illinois Community College Board; and a student member chosen by the Student Advisory Committee.
ICTA: Illinois Career and Technical Administrators
Promotes the interests of those with major responsibilities in the administration of career and technical education in secondary and post-secondary schools.
ICCA: Illinois Career Coordinators Association
Serves all cooperative education coordinators, keeping them informed on issues affecting both coordinators and students.
ICCB: Illinois Community College Board
The Illinois Community College Board, as the state coordinating board for community colleges, administers the Public Community College Act in a manner that maximizes the ability of the community colleges to serve their communities. As an integral part of the state's system of higher education, community colleges are committed to providing high-quality, accessible, cost-effective educational opportunities for the individuals and communities they serve
IFACSTA: Illinois Family and Consumer Science Teachers Association
The mission of IFACSTA is to promote family and consumer sciences through education. In so doing we:

IHOA: Illinois Health Occupations Association
IHOA timulates professional growth, leadership, and unity among educators of health careers and professionals.
INRS: Illinois New and Related Services
INRS serves the needs of all who are involved in training and development activities related to workforce preparation.
ILAVESNP: Illinois Association of Vocational Education Special Personnel
The ILAVESNP organization is dedicated to promoting quality career and technical education programs for ALL students. The Association is an assembly of individuals from diverse professional backgrounds who want to ensure that the unique needs of all populations receive the appropriate training and education to meet the challenges of the workplace. Members serve students with disabilities, limited English proficiency, academic or economic disadvantages, single parents and those who are enrolled in nontraditional programs.
TEAI: Technology Education Association of Illinois
TEAI is dedicated to the promotion and professional development for teachers in the Technology Education field. The mission is to prepare children for their future! Whether you teach in a department that calls itself "Industrial Arts", "Industrial Technology", "Shop", "Manual Arts", or "Technology Education", you are still giving and helping kids learn technological literacy.
NASDCTEc: National Association of State Directors of Career and Technical Education Consortium
NASDCTEc's Washington headquarters office was established in 1987 for the express purpose of influencing the reauthorization of the Perkins Act. At that time a strategic plan was adopted for the association. Times have changed, and so has NASDCTEC. The Board adopted a new mission, vision, and goals in the August, 2002. NASDCTEc's vision: be the leader in shaping the future of career and technical education. NASDCTEc's mission is to provide leadership for career and technical education's role in education, workforce preparation and economic development.
NASDCTEc's Goals:
- Support states as they connect career technical education to education, workforce preparation and economic development.
- Encourage excellence in career technical education through the recognition and celebration of outstanding individuals, organizations and programs.
- Improve and advance career technical education by enhancing collaboration with business, labor, education and other organizations with complementary interests.
- Strengthen state level leadership for career technical education.
- Inform national legislation and policy that supports excellence in career technical education through strong state leadership, adequate fiscal support and an effective system of accountability.
- Promote the full participation, visibility and collaboration of secondary, post secondary and adult career technical education in all work of the association.
NAPE: National Alliance for Partnerships in Equity
The National Alliance for Partnerships in Equity (NAPE) is a consortium of state and local agencies, corporations, and national organizations that collaborate to create equitable and diverse classrooms and workplaces where there are no barriers to opportunities.
NWLC: National Women's Law Center
National Women's Law Center's mission is to protect and advance the progress of women and girls at work, in school, and in virtually every aspect of their lives.
CWIT: Chicago Women in Trades
CHICAGO WOMEN IN TRADES works to increase the number of women in the skilled trades and other blue collar occupations and to eliminate the barriers that prohibit women from entering and remaining in non-traditional careers.
