Nontraditional refers to occupations or fields of work, including careers in computer science, technology, and other emerging high skill occupations, for which individuals from one gender comprise less than 25% of the individuals employed in each such occupation or field of work.
In Illinois, nontraditional students must be enrolled in a course of study on the Illinois approved nontraditional CIP code list.

Improving Performance on Perkins III Core Indicators:
Annotation: This study reviews recent research on participation and completion of nontraditional programs by organizing the literature into root (direct) causes, and external conditions/constraints. Improvement strategies are then offered for each causal agent. In addition, causes outside the control of the school/program are addressed.
