Session Title: Careers and Transitions: A Collaborative Practice Testing Day for H.S. Seniors (Capitol)
Presented by: Dr. Sharon Kennedy, Moraine Valley Community College; Larry Ehrestman, Reavis High School
Description: In this era of ever-increasing state testing pressure, Reavis High School collaborated with Moraine Valley Community College to provide a Career Testing Day Experience which included a range of Career Proficiency Exams. The Compass test, business fields, health fields, apprenticeships, the ASVAB and others were included. The intent was to strengthen intrinsic motivation on the part of seniors and provide a “testing future” experience which would show all of our students that career testing will be part of their lives. This presentation will explain the development, implementation, and measurements involved.

Session Title: Answering your Questions about FERPA (Plaza 3)
Presented by: Dr. Brent Paterson, Illinois State University
Description: The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) is a Federal law that protects the privacy of student education records. FERPA is intended to help preserve the privacy of student records, but it does allow for legitimate record sharing between educational partners. This session will focus on how to share data within the framework of FERPA.

Description: This session will update attendees on the status of Critical Skill Shortages Initiative, Healthcare (including bridge program activities), TWL, and Manufacturing projects. The session provides a better understanding of statewide efforts surrounding these sectors, including IWIB recommendations and what ICCB is doing to promote sharing of information.

Improving transitions to postsecondary education and the world of work is easy with the online Kuder® Career Planning System. Students can learn about their career interests, lay out a four-year plan, and explore college and career options. Schools across the nation are increasing postsecondary and career success, while improving recruitment, retention, and completion with the Kuder system.
