Session Title: Regional Collaboration Grant Panel

Presented by: Lead Representatives from each Regional Collaborative moderated by
Rob Kerr, Illinois Community College Board
Description: This session will feature a panel of regional leaders discussing activities supported by the ICCB Regional Collaboration Grant, and the impact it had on the promotion of collaboration and innovation at the sub-state level.  Representatives from the various projects will discuss how they organized their Regional Collaboratives, what their goals were for FY07, and what their plans are for FY08.  Anyone involved in or interested in forming a Regional Collaborative - is encouraged to attend this session.

Strand : Access & Success for Special Populations
Session Title: Building Sweet Success in Perkins IV: Planning for Enhanced Special Populations Programs

Description: Perkins IV focuses additional attention on both Special Populations and increased accountability.  Community colleges and LEP personnel are well aware that successful achievement of core indicators by Special Populations impacts overall AALP achievement. This workshop will inform the participants of the importance of research-based, data-driven planning in helping to create that success.   Attendees will leave with flexible tools designed to support dynamite CTE Special Populations programs.

Session Title: Climbing to the PEAQ of the HLC Mountain

Description: This session focuses on Southeastern Illinois College ’s final editing stages of its self-study report in anticipation of their Higher Learning Commission's visit in April 2008. For more than a few years Southeastern has studied, read, engaged, and evaluated everything in order to adequately "cover the bases."  This presentation looks at how the self-study was conducted in 1997 and how Southeastern has changed their ways of self-examination, preparing, and reporting. Southeastern’s self-study processes, as they relate to assessment and use of results in postsecondary CTE programs and/or programs serving Special Populations, may benefit other schools in various stages of their self-studies and subsequent accreditation visits.

Session Title: Labor Market & Career Information for a Sector-Based Approach to Community Development

Description: This session will provide an introduction to and discussion of workforce and career information tools available to assist in the economic development and labor market analysis of local and regional geographies. Existing tools available through IDES’ Economic Information and Analysis Division and the Illinois Career Resource Network will be reviewed and new online mapping and data analysis methods to better determine the current level and future path of your local economies will be examined.

Session Title: Research-Based Curriculum Development & Improvement: The DACUM Process

Description: Are you teaching the most important content in your CTE courses? Do local employers actively support the career instruction offered at your institution? Are key business and industry representatives involved in identifying skills, knowledge, and behaviors students need to be successful in the field? This session will highlight the value of a proven research-based job/occupational analysis process that is efficient, cost-effective, and involves expert workers to identify student competencies needed in the curriculum.
